Join the NGLCC Communities of Color Initiative’s (CoCi) Heritage Month Committee and LAGLCC for an engaging workshop to honor and celebrate Black History Month by deepening our understanding of its history, significance, and impact. This session will explore the origins and evolution of Black History Month, reflecting on why it remains relevant today and how it supports ongoing efforts toward diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Participants will learn about influential Black figures who have made remarkable contributions to civil rights, science, literature, politics, and beyond. We will also share some notable LGBTQ+ community members who have impacted Black history. Together, we’ll discuss meaningful ways to participate in Black History Month, from supporting Black-owned businesses to engaging in continuous learning and community involvement.
